Apofeni is a design practice situated at the crossroads of three scales: the self, city, and geography.

We live in a world where there is an imminent need to forge adjacencies between seemingly segregated subjects and investigate fertile grounds for design opportunities in possible near-futures; while remaining dedicated to the ethos of practicing architecture as a continuous attempt at making sense of the world around us.

A world where projects - or rather projections- shall stem from their particular context; understood not only as a lump sum of material realities, but as a comprehensive collage of the stories, myths, immaterial dynamics, idiosyncrasies - which collectively charge the built environment with potential.

Work Apofeni produces ranges in scale and format, from architectural design, to speculative research and multi-media experiments. Rooted in the architectonic scale, the studio remains dedicated to active questioning of boundaries between art, architecture, landscape design, and city-making.

Aykut Imer initiated Apofeni as a design collaborative in 2016. With backgrounds in engineering and architecture, he has amassed interdisciplinary professional experience over the past decade in New York City. He is a licensed architect in the State of New York, and a LEED accredited professional.
